SERA worked with American Campus Communities to design and develop a 700-bed semi-suite and suite-style residence hall and dining hall for Southern Oregon University. Raider Village provides much-needed student housing for the university, which was facing a potential housing shortage as their existing facilities needed deferred maintenance or replacement.
Our design concept includes two distinct four-story buildings, with semi-suites in one building and suite-style units in the second building. The mix of unit types offers both double and single occupancy bedrooms, and responds to SOU’s desire for housing diversity. Centralized building amenities such as social and study lounges provide large, inviting spaces for neighborhood space and social interaction. An adjacent dining hall and community center features clerestory windows for increased ventilation and daylighting, and an outdoor dining terrace.
The dining hall was funded by a combination of private and public financing. It features a 500-seat interior dining hall and a 150-seat outside dining terrace.
