7th & H – Sacramento Affordable Housing with Integrated Behavioral Healthcare & Support Services

7th and H is a new mixed-use affordable housing and clinic project in downtown Sacramento for Mercy Housing and Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency. The building has 150 permanent supportive housing units for transitional and special needs residents. It includes a central 2,600 sf community room flanked by a two large landscaped roof terraces, communal kitchen, three separate individual floor lounges, laundries, computer lab, resident case management service center, building management offices, 16 stall parking garage, and 4,000 sf commercial retail space.

The project also includes a 5,500 sf combined primary, behavioral health and substance abuse clinic operated by The Effort, a non-profit services provider, that serves both residents and the public. The federally qualified health clinic provides health screening, immunizations, lab work, therapeutic counseling, and recovery support groups.

7th & H is a collaborative project with SERA (design architect) and Mogavero Notestine Associates (executive architect). Together, we worked to build a facility that supports its residents while achieving a high level of sustainability. Cost-effective measures include dual flush toilets, water-source heat pump heating and cooling systems to the units, and a rooftop photovoltaic array.
