After two decades of rapid urbanization, the City of Sherwood is running out of space, amidst rising community concern regarding urban growth. The City initiated the Sherwood West Preliminary Concept Plan to determine how the 1,291-acre study area could be planned to accommodate future generations. Working with Cogan Owens Greene, SERA and other consultants engaged the community in an 18-month planning process.
The resulting plan builds on the existing character of Sherwood with distinct and walkable neighborhoods, organized around schools and parks, in close proximity to a vibrant and historic city center, set in a natural framework of protected stream corridors and forested hillsides. The plan was enthusiastically endorsed by stakeholders and Planning Commission, and accepted by the Sherwood City Council as a tool for decision making regarding future urban growth.
