Teaming with Mortenson on this design-build, SERA designed a 14-story, 120,000 sf new residential tower on a quarter block in downtown Portland. This mixed-use development contains 147 units, a mix of studios, one- and two-bedrooms. Amenities include mechanized parking, a bike repair station, coffee bar, dog washing station and fitness center. The penthouse features a large clubroom and deck with a BBQ, fire table and panoramic views of downtown, the Willamette River, Mount Hood and the West Hills.
The design is a modern interpretation of the surrounding classic and urban 20th century streetcar apartment buildings. Inside, the raw but refined spaces feature exposed concrete and utilities as well as warm Doug Fir elements and simple finishes. The finishes and furniture are tied to environmental graphics that span the lobby, elevator hallways and rooftop common areas and deck, giving a nod to local Portland landmarks.
Storyline shares a block with the SERA-designed 11 Marché and The Cameron, and incorporates an additional light-filled courtyard between the three buildings. Sustainable elements include the use of healthy materials, reduction of water usage and water density, on-site stormwater treatment and the eco-roof which serves as urban habitat for birds.
