Town Center Station is a progressive, community-focused affordable apartment development next to the Clackamas Town Center and the Light Rail Transit center. The development includes a mix of 52 one-bedroom and studio apartments, a community function room with a kitchen, computer lab, site staff offices, and an extensively landscaped and terraced courtyard. The site also has an eight-bed community garden and small orchard for residents to grow their own fruit and vegetables. Residents are offered a variety of on-site classes, workshops and social activities for cooking, gardening and personal finance.
Town Center Station incorporates a number of energy efficient and healthy environmentally responsible features. The roof is covered in a solar photovoltaic laminate membrane system and is modeled to produce 41,000 kW hrs per year. All the lighting fixtures selected are estimated to reduce the lighting energy consumption by 75% from more traditional incandescent lighting. Hot water is provided through a recirculating system with super high efficiency (96%+) boilers. All units have a ventilation system with heat recovery ventilators transferring heat from exhaust air to fresh air entering the unit. All of the rainwater at Town Center Station is contained and treated on site via two large bio-filtration swales. Paints, finishes and materials are very low or contain no volatile organic compounds for a healthier indoor environment.
