Previewing SERA’s New Galleria Headquarters (with Renderings!)

“Our site selection committee chose this site for our new headquarters based not only on the beauty and flexibility of the Galleria space but also because the location offers an unmatched quality of life for employees, one that maximizes transportation, recreation, public space, and food options,” says Joe Pinzone, our Managing Principal. “Our decision to locate here underscores SERA’s commitment to Portland and our desire to keep the city vital.”

Our team is putting a lot of thought into creating a healthy, sustainable and biophilic environment—one that will feature sustainably harvested wood, ample daylighting and a state-of-the-art air filtration system. To that end, our new office is targeting multiple certifications, including the Living Building Challenge (LBC) Core and Materials Petal, LEED Platinum, and WELL.

Here’s a preview of key spaces in our design:

In addition to even greater access to transit, SERA’s new office will offer our employees:

♦ an activity-based, agile work environment and flexible seating
♦ more team and conference rooms to maximize collaboration
♦ increased access to daylight and operable windows
♦ an upgraded wood and model shop to support our maker culture
♦ easily accessible bike storage, and
♦ additional tenant benefits, like fitness room access.

The 37,000-square-foot, uninterrupted floorplate of the fifth floor spans a full city block and sits beneath a historic, steel-frame skylight. Knowing how curious staff would be about the vibrant office environment we’re designing here, and how difficult it would be to describe, our Viz team developed augmented reality visualization points throughout the space, which could be accessed by mobile devices. Our Workplace team was also on-hand to fill in the blanks, and talk about the layout, amenities and flexibility of our new office.

Earlier this year, we announced our lease of the top floor of Galleria as our new Portland headquarters. With the design of our future office fully underway, we opened the doors this week to give staff a peek into the impressive space before construction crews set to work!
