11 Marché is a new, six-story development in Portland’s Cultural District, near Portland State University. It provides 62 apartments and structured parking with a mechanical car stacker to maximize space. The design takes inspiration from the classic “streetcar apartments” prevalent in the neighborhood during the early 1900s. The brick façade, with bay windows and iron balconies, creates an inviting, residential feeling to the development.
SERA designed the interior architecture of the building, which includes a mix of studios, one- and two-bedrooms, a reading room, dog washing and grooming area, and a hotel-like lobby. Finishes, furniture and lighting were provided by Vida.
A courtyard on the second floor allows light into the upper level units and contains a stormwater planter to treat all roof runoff. The rooftop terrace provides residents with a space to enjoy casual gatherings and views of the city, the West Hills and Mount St. Helens.
