Multnomah Station is in the heart of Multnomah Village, a quintessentially Portland urban community filled with charming and quirky cafes, galleries and shops. This project was designed with a nod to the original Streamline Moderne style of the 1940s gas station previously located on the site. The building features a rounded “flatiron” corner at the primary intersection, with an original gas pump flanking the entrance that serves as a sculptural salute to the site’s history. Retro signage further enhances the character of the village. Inside, Multnomah Station weaves together modern and vintage elements with a bright, retro aesthetic.
Ground floor retail and a restaurant — along with 4th floor terraces — help activate the street, which is a beloved destination for locals and travelers. With 39 residential apartments, Multnomah Station is one of the very first projects completed under the City of Portland’s new Inclusionary Housing affordability guidelines.
