Patton Park Apartments

The Patton Park Apartments are located on N. Interstate Avenue, on a site that was formerly occupied by the Crown Motel and a vacant lot. Working with REACH Development and Walsh Construction Co., SERA transformed the block into a mixed-use development with affordable housing. The project was designed as a five-story wood frame affordable apartment building under the new City of Portland code provisions for “five over one” residential projects.

Located near the Killingsworth MAX station, the Patton Park Apartment positively influences the character of the station area, providing much-needed housing, and increase in transit use. SERA’s design includes 54 units with ground floor commercial space and minimal parking tucked behind the building. The design is oriented to activate both Interstate Avenue and Patton Park to the north. The building exterior design is very contemporary to reflect and to invigorate the mid-century modern design character prevalent along Interstate Avenue.

The architectural program for the Patton Park Apartments, with the support of the Portland Development Commission, was cultivated through community meetings involving REACH Community Development, TriMet, and various neighborhood residents and organizations over an extended period.
