Wilder New Community Master Plan

SERA worked with Oregon-based developer, Landwaves, to master plan a new mixed-use community in Newport, Oregon. SERA provided urban design services, architectural guidelines and green building standards for a full community master plan. The plan calls for a mixed-use, mixed-income community that will include attainably-priced housing of various types: cluster housing, townhouses, apartments and single family homes. These will be located in close proximity to the village center, which will feature neighborhood-serving businesses and be anchored by the new campus for Oregon Coast Community College.

SERA and Landwaves are committed to the highest degree of sustainable design feasible. To that end, the master plan integrates stormwater management strategies, low-impact street lighting and permeable paving into the concept design, and green building strategies are being finalized for the structures. These are all designed to support the owner’s vision of a new model for sustainable and attainable development on the Oregon Coast. Phase 1 of the plan was approved by Newport’s Planning Commission in March, 2009. The project is now in the implementation phase.
