SERA is deeply committed to capturing every opportunity to effect positive change in addressing the climate crisis. Climate action toward a just transition can put us—people, businesses, and communities—on a path toward regeneration. This will be both life-affirming and a strategic advantage. We can do this.

Not only that, it can be joyful. Author Paul Hawken quotes Wendell Berry on this: “Be joyful though you have considered all the facts.” That thread runs through Hawken’s call for a collective shift—in agriculture, industry, architecture, and in society writ large—toward regeneration.

Hawken’s newest book, Regeneration: Ending the Climate Crisis in One Generation, and Katharine Hayhoe’s Saving Us, like Ayana Elizabeth Johnson and Katharine Wilkinson’s All We Can Save, are books to read right now because they help people understand the scope and urgency of the climate challenge and the potential that exists for individuals, businesses, and communities to effect positive change.

My close collaborator, Kira Gould, and I, recently hosted Hawken for a discussion on his seminal new book. The hour of conversation continued into a lively ‘after party’ chat, which is included in the video. Hawken was insightful, and uplifting, and I’m certain there are takeaways for everyone in our conversation. Enjoy!
